The variety Medius is a good allround variety for a varietyof uses. It is characterized by relatively regular tubers and a mild taste.

Jerusalem artichoke (Helianthus tuberosus) is related to the sunflower. The plant was in the 17th century. discovered in North America by an Indian tribe. In Germany, as Erdartischocke, Erdbirne or Indianerknolle increasingly gaining importance for nutrition.
